Session for one please!

This session was a refreshing change of pace. It was a beautiful day. And yet again, another session that had to be rescheduled a couple of times due to weather. (I’m totally over the rain. So really, it can stop any day now!) D and I got to walk around downtown Middletown and take some great portraits of her. I enjoyed the local scenery and being in our hometown. Some of the sites there made it a great backdrop for this session. D had the most beautiful eyes….don’t ya think? I hope the end result is what you’re looking for, and now your friend can stop “twisting your arm” to get the pics done! :) Good luck!

Happy 2009!

jgl_1With 2008 behind me I’ve been contemplating which new year’s resolutions to make. Or, better yet, not to keep. Really – how many years can you say you’re going to work out, save money and lose weight? So this year I’ve decided to make a resolution I can keep:
to take pictures.

I can’t wait to meet all the new families, babies and couples I will cross paths with this year. I can’t wait to document all the exciting things that will go on in my own life. The big things and the little things. The soccer games, days at the beach and birthdays. I mean, memories are what we’re left with at the end of each year, right? Reminiscing about all the events that happened over the course of 12 months.
Boy, am I happy I have all the pictures to prove it.

And now….with a big drum roll (you can hear that in your head, right?)
I’m going to be blogging over the next week or two about different events that happened in my life during 2008. Family, friends…you get the idea. Things that were important in shaping the way my 2008 turned out. They may not be awarding winning pics, but they are my memories. And each one is special for that reason.

The first thing I’m going to start with is wrapping up December. I have been away from the computer as much as possible and enjoying my Christmas vacation. So, what have I been doing all month? Let’s see, besides filling print orders and mailing out gift certificates (I did do SOME business, lol) I also enjoyed shopping, baking and eating. Did I say eating? I meant visiting our family out of state. Our son also had his first set of stitches in Dec. And, with the way he is, not our last I’m sure. He decided to stand on a kitchen chair and tip over backwards smashing his face on the floor and biting his upper lip. We then headed to urgent care and he received 2 stitches and a nice, big, fat lip. Once I finished having a heart attack over that, he got home and proceeded to jump on my bed. Really? The stitches weren’t enough to learn your lesson? You can see a faint scratch on his cheek in the pic. That was from the fall. Ohh, to be 2 again.

Speaking of the pic, it was taken on our annual outing to get our Christmas tree. This year we had a great time picking out our tree. Not like last year…when my daughter left the tree farm kicking and screaming that we weren’t getting the tree SHE picked out. Mind you, it was maybe 4 feet tall and missing branches on one side. Great for Charlie Brown, but not the Langdon’s living room. She was just a peach this year….she even hugged her brother for this pic. Wow, was I lucky.
Man, it was a good year!
Bring on 2009!

A Great Morning for Pictures at Hammonasset

I had a lot of fun following these 2 cuties all over Meigs point while they explored the beach. Good thing I had sneakers on because it was hard keeping up with them! I know too well how curious kids this age are because my 2 are almost the same age. We couldn’t have had a more beautiful day. This family had to be rescheduled a couple of times and I appreciate their patience. Enjoy!

Family Session

I swear I get to photograph the cutest kids! This cutie had the sweetest, curliest hair. I just loved it! We had the session at Harkness State Park and it was nice to see the changes taking place there as fall emerges. We had beautiful weather – what a nice change from a couple of weekends ago. Sorry to all those who had to reschedule…you never know what mother nature is going to do! Thanks to everyone for being so cooperative with the rescheduling process.

My cute little man

I took my son out the other day for a mini photo shoot. My daughter was in school and I thought I could get his full attention. And maybe, possibly have him make some eye contact with me (the camera) and not her. Well, it lasted for about 15 min. or so and then it was over. He’s 2, what can I say? I took him to Eli Canon’s in Middletown. The outside of that place is so cool, great colors, signs, etc. I pass by there all the time and have always wanted to do a shoot out front. I’m constantly on the look-out for new places to shoot. Sometimes the most unlikely places make the best backdrops. So….that brings me to my point (it wasn’t just that my kid is cute!). Everyone who decides to book a session should give the location some serious thought. There are so many great spots in CT and I’m open for suggestions. It can really take your session to the next level when you pick the right location. And I’m always willing to make recommendations too!
