It becomes harder and harder to choose blog pics for weddings lately. I want to tell the story of the wedding day (without posting 100′s of photos for people to scroll through) but I want to add just enough so people can get a feel for the day. So bare with me here…I picked quite a few.
I think it goes without me saying that Candace and Greg are made for each other. You can see that in every pic of them together. They can’t take their eyes off each other. They can’t make a move without wanting the other with them. They don’t want to walk the dog, tweet or run to Starbucks alone. They are the perfect accessory for each other. They compliment and enhance each other. I figured that out in the 5 hours I was with them that day. And I’m sure everyone else who was at the wedding already knows this about them! It was a beautiful wedding for these soulmates. Shaun and I had a blast sharing your day with you at Dolce in Norwalk! All the happiness to you both!

Candace made all the jewelry that she wore and her bridesmaid’s wore. She also put together the bouquets and invitations. She rocks!

I never cry at weddings….

I guess I should rephrase that – I never USUALLY cry at weddings. This one however, was the exception.
I was very lucky to have been chosen to shoot Kate & Morgan’s wedding at The Barns at Wesleyan Hills in Middletown CT. (I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned once or twice that I LOVE it here so it was great to shoot a wedding here)
The first email I received from Morgan stated that they wanted to meet with me about shooting the wedding, and that they were only looking to have people involved who were supportive of their marriage. After attending the wedding that day I do believe that they have the most supportive friends and family that I have ever met! They said the most heartfelt vows (written by them!) and there couldn’t have been a dry eye in the place. Every speech that was made and every hug that was given made it clear that Kate & Morgan are two people whom everyone LOVES to have in their lives.

They chose not to see each other before the ceremony so everything would be a surprise. It WAS a surprise when they both walked down the isle with almost matching dresses on!

Ricky & Jessica – Niantic Wedding

When I started days ago picking the pics for this post I had narrowed them down to ONLY 52 images. Needless to say, I have had a VERY hard time making decisions about which pics to put up. I just love so many images from this wedding! I’m very grateful to Taryn Allison for assisting me at this wedding. She had so many wonderful images I included some of hers in the post as well. She has a major creative vibe and I love seeing the way her eye captured the day.
I just love documenting weddings. It brings me back to when I was a photojournalist in the newspaper industry in NY. It was like being a fly on the wall – letting the events unfold in front of me and capturing them as they happen. Nothing forced, nothing posed. My favorite way to see things as a photographer. The images tell the story. And let me just say….these images are speaking to me! I’m going to let them do the talking about this absolutely beautiful day!

At Last….

I have known Ali since I first moved to Connecticut. She was the first friend that I made – she was the loving neighbor who came over to say “hi” and brought some cookies and flowers! We got to share being pregnant with our first children at the same time. She was a HUGE supporter of me when I started up my photography business, and still is. The one thing (but not the only thing!) I can tell you without a doubt is how GIVING of a person she is! Needless to say, I was more than happy when she asked me to be her wedding photographer. Of course, she just wanted me to take a few pics here and there and then have a nice time at the reception. I had a GREAT time on her wedding day and certainly took more than just a “few pics” like she asked.

We started the day out with some mimosas and a light lunch. Then Ali got ready and we headed to Wickham Park in Manchester to meet Aaron and do some Bride and Groom portraits before an evening wedding and reception at the Mill on The River in South Windsor. I just LOVE when the bride and groom decide to meet before the ceremony. It’s so intimate and romantic. They had a beautiful moment seeing each other for the first time and whispering in each other’s ear. (there’s me, wiping the tears in my eyes again!). The entire day exuded such LOVE and JOY that I don’t think I could wipe the smile off my face until long after I had left them. I had the HARDEST time narrowing down a few choices for this blog entry! So excuse the long post…..

I was thinking, it would be AWESOME to get this same shot on the day Abbey (Ali’s daughter) is getting ready for her own wedding!!

Shelagh & Matt Wedding.. Mystic Seaport, Connecticut

Matt & Shelah’s story began 15 months ago when they found each other (thank goodness for the digital age we live in!) and they found love! They had a beautiful wedding in Mystic Ct. followed by a wonderful reception at Mystic Seaport. The whole day was full of beautiful moments and the weather was perfect. I could go on and on but I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Shelagh had a STUNNING dress! It fit her like a glove

As Shelagh walked down the stairs to meet her father there wasn’t a dry eye in the house….including mine

It was an absolutely beautiful day at the Seaport, everyone around was stopping to watch Matt & Shelagh walk by

They had a very graceful first dance together

Shelagh’s grandfather made a very touching (and hilarious!) toast before dinner

They had a photo booth!!

How many receptions do you go to and get candy? They put out an array of candies after dinner for their guests to enjoy – a selection of all their favorites and even had little bags for them to fill and take home. (Also, little side note, they ordered a guest book of their engagement pics for people to sign. And I must say, it turned out beautiful!)

Shelagh and her dad didn’t have a classic “Father/Daughter dance”. This was waaaay more fun

Luis & Susan's Wedding

Sue & Luis have a fairytale kind of love. The kind of fairytale you’d like to read over and over because it has such a happy ending. They had a beautiful wedding day. There were many tears (of joy!) and a very fun bridal party. And I just have to say that Susan had the most GORGEOUS wedding dress I’ve ever seen. (And I won’t spill the beans on what she paid for it…..but it was the best deal I’ve ever heard of!) And she looked stunning in it.

Mike & Michelle's Wedding

Michelle & Mike HAVE to be two of the most fun-lov’in people I’ve ever met. And I’m not the only one who feels this way – that’s for sure! They were surrounded by all their family and friends – and it was hard not to breathe in the love that was felt towards them by all. Their day couldn’t have been more perfect. They started the afternoon with a ceremony at St. Patrick’s Church in Farmington, then headed to Simsbury for a BEAUTIFUL tree ceremony, and then off to the Riverview for a PARTY!! (I don’t think I’ve ever been to a wedding where the dance floor was so FULL of people all night long!) I heard 3 of the most wonderful toasts. All of which made me tear up. (Very difficult to look through wet, teary eyes while taking pics!) Mike & Michelle were soo gracious and thoughtful towards us on THEIR wedding day. We are truly lucky to have been chosen to share their day with them. And (not naming any names) but I’m totally over the broken glass/spilled beer all over my pant leg. No worries, it’s all part of the fun

It was so sweet – at the end of the night Mike was rubbing Michelle’s tired feet.

Michelle told us when they went to the jewelers to get their wedding bands the jeweler told Mike he had “mitts” for hands – because his ring size was so big. Compared to hers, I’d say so.

2 Weddings = 2 Wedding Pictures (teaser)

Well, I’m way above knee deep in images!! After 2 weddings this past weekend I’m wading my way through an ocean of pictures. On Friday, Shaun and I had the pleasure of documenting the wedding of Michelle & Mike, and then on Saturday we spent the day with Susan and Luis. Both of these couples are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They have loving families and wonderful friends!

In my editing, I fell in LOVE with an image of each couple that I wanted to share with you. Let me know what you think. Trust me, there are plenty more to come…..

Another great engagement session this week! I’m so excited about the weddings I’ll be shooting this year! All the couples Shaun and I have met with recently are so great. We’re in for such a fun wedding season.
I don’t think there was a better location to have had this session. Gillette Castle in East Haddam just seemed to fit them.
A little background – Luis and Susan are into performing and let’s just say they’re really good at it! I didn’t have to ask them to “do” anything. They just did it! They posed themselves, they hugged, they laughed and they joked around a little. Ok….a lot actually. But that’s just them. And I captured that quite a few times. I could have made this blog post just on the “out takes”. And believe me, it would have been hilarious!

But I found this couch and HAD to use it. I got this shot by standing in the MENS bathroom doorway and dodging an usher or two. So worth it!!

I had the honor of attending Taryn’s bridal shower last weekend. I just love showers. Everything was so lovely, each little detail was so well thought out. We all arrived to a growing stack of presents – each one beautifully wrapped. There were tulips on the table and cute sea glass soap for the favors. We had a delicious lunch followed by sea-shell cupcakes and ice cream sundaes! (for those of you who know me well – this is a soft spot of mine ) Next stop – bachelorette party!
