A Work of Art

This proud mom-to-be did something totally different and new to me – she had her belly painted. Inspired by her newly painted nursery (done by Annette Dostaler) she decided to have her belly professionally painted by Annette. (The nursery looks great by the way, but I won’t be revealing that until the newborn session!) Her two year old, Reese, just loved this idea because she is totally into painting right now. So…once we were done with the “It’s a Boy” belly, she washed it off and let Reese take her turn painting it! She is quite the artist!

Coming soon…..

Blank Canvas

There’s nothing like a big house to use as a blank canvas to take pics. This adorable couple are expecting their first child, a boy, very soon. They invited me in to take some pics of them while they anxiously await his arrival. They just moved into their house recently and haven’t filled it up with furniture (and clutter, if you’re talking about my house!) so we had blank walls and beautiful hardwood floors to work with. And even though it’s still a bit chilly outside, we were able to utilize some of their backyard. I loved it!

This series was my favorite: The little blossoms growing on the tree behind them – and the growing baby!

I love this portrait – and the natural light!

Love the architecture in this one

3 weeks early

I met this couple about 4 weeks ago to do a pregnancy session. To my surprise (and theirs!) I was called to come back for the newborn session early. Lilian decided to arrive 3 weeks before she was due! But she was good and ready to make her debut at a little over 5lbs. She is the tiniest thing ever. Both of my kids weighed around 7lbs. so it seemed like she was as small as a baby doll. Her proud grandparents were there visiting. It was so sweet, they were all ooh-ing and aaa-ing throughout the session. Everyone is in awe over Lilian.

Here’s one of Bea during her pregnancy session

They wanted her photographed in this sweet christening outfit

These next 2 are my favs

This one makes me smile!

Sunny days are here again

To keep going with my spring theme, I got out on yet ANOTHER beautiful day for this session. Just before the rain hit us again, of course. But hey, that’s what’s spring’s all about, right? We had the session on Wesleyan campus and amid the bare trees we found a little spot that had some flowers blooming.
I was lucky enough to get to share the sunny afternoon with Amy & Mike. I got to hear how they are anxiously awaiting their little girl to arrive and I was able to witness the tender moments they shared with each other. Amy was a natural with her poses and eye contact. All she had to do was flash her blue eyes and my camera was clicking away! By the time the session was over we had all decided Amy should star in “America’s next top pregnancy model”. I think she would do very well! :)

Finally back to posting!

Ok, so if anyone tried to look at my blog in the past 48 hours they would have noticed it was not working properly. After much frustration and phone calls, we are back up and running! I apologize for the inconvenience and also for the delay posting.
Now without any more delay….I can finally post this session!

I received a call a couple weeks ago from a husband who was very excited to have his wife photographed during her pregnancy. With baby #2 on the way and only 2 more weeks to go in her pregnancy, (although you would never know it by looking at her!) we had to set up a quick session. It’s not often that I receive phone calls from the dads. But this dad – he just LOVES his wife. And I thought it was very sweet that he thinks she’s so beautiful that he wanted to capture her this way before the baby arrives. And he’s right :)
