Blank Canvas

There’s nothing like a big house to use as a blank canvas to take pics. This adorable couple are expecting their first child, a boy, very soon. They invited me in to take some pics of them while they anxiously await his arrival. They just moved into their house recently and haven’t filled it up with furniture (and clutter, if you’re talking about my house!) so we had blank walls and beautiful hardwood floors to work with. And even though it’s still a bit chilly outside, we were able to utilize some of their backyard. I loved it!

This series was my favorite: The little blossoms growing on the tree behind them – and the growing baby!

I love this portrait – and the natural light!

Love the architecture in this one

Introducing….Kelsey

Some of you may have met her already – she’s the cute blond that’s been assisting me on some shoots recently….(drum roll please!)
Meet KELSEY!

A little bit about her:
1. Kelsey is attending Paier College of Art for Photography. She will be finishing up her first year this spring.
2. She can carry a camera bag, a light stand, umbrella and reflector like nobody’s business.
3. She is great at posing for pics when I’m scouting out locations (I have a fantastic variety of out-takes, all of Kelsey).
4. She keeps me awake on the long drive home after shoots.
5. She doesn’t have any cooking skills (but we don’t hold that against her!).
6. And last, but not least, she’s blooming into a talented photographer!

I’m so grateful to have Kelsey help me on sessions – Thank you!!

This last photo is a self portrait Kelsey did for her photo class. Love it!

3 weeks early

I met this couple about 4 weeks ago to do a pregnancy session. To my surprise (and theirs!) I was called to come back for the newborn session early. Lilian decided to arrive 3 weeks before she was due! But she was good and ready to make her debut at a little over 5lbs. She is the tiniest thing ever. Both of my kids weighed around 7lbs. so it seemed like she was as small as a baby doll. Her proud grandparents were there visiting. It was so sweet, they were all ooh-ing and aaa-ing throughout the session. Everyone is in awe over Lilian.

Here’s one of Bea during her pregnancy session

They wanted her photographed in this sweet christening outfit

These next 2 are my favs

This one makes me smile!

Sunny days are here again

To keep going with my spring theme, I got out on yet ANOTHER beautiful day for this session. Just before the rain hit us again, of course. But hey, that’s what’s spring’s all about, right? We had the session on Wesleyan campus and amid the bare trees we found a little spot that had some flowers blooming.
I was lucky enough to get to share the sunny afternoon with Amy & Mike. I got to hear how they are anxiously awaiting their little girl to arrive and I was able to witness the tender moments they shared with each other. Amy was a natural with her poses and eye contact. All she had to do was flash her blue eyes and my camera was clicking away! By the time the session was over we had all decided Amy should star in “America’s next top pregnancy model”. I think she would do very well! :)
