Javapalooza

On Wed. I attended a gallery opening for photojournalist Dave Zajac at Java palooza in Middletown. Dave has a collection of images on display there through Jan., I believe. If anyone gets to downtown Middletown I recommend checking it out. He’s a highly credited photographer who has worked for numerous newspapers and mags. His work is very inspiring. Brings me back to my roots as a photojournalist. I love the local art scene. Plus the coffee was great!

The Final Preview of 2008

Well, I have a lot of mixed emotions about this being my last session for 2008.

First and foremost, I would like to thank all the wonderful people I have met this year. Thank you for inviting me into their lives to create beautiful images of your families!! It has been a wonderful year and I look forward to working with you all again in the years to come.

Secondly, I am excited to have a small bit of down time to get my Xmas shopping done, spend some time with my daughter (who is sick of me working), plan out all my marketing and business changes for next year, and hopefully relax a bit.

Lastly, I want to apologize to all the families that I had to turn away for holiday sessions this year. I HATE to turn people away and I managed to squeeze some of you in beyond my initial plans. You may wonder why sessions stop before Thanksgiving. For each holiday session I shoot I have to get those pictures toned/edited. You have to view them. We have to design a card and make revisions, then get them printed and shipped in time for you to send them out before Santa comes. So, as you can see, when I have 2-4 sessions each week leading up to Thanksgiving, things can get pretty crazy. Moving forward, I will ask all of you to compromise with me. I will make sure to find a way to add more shooting slots into next year, and you all will book a bit further in advance and maybe even take advantage of my Christmas in July special that will be happening in 2009.

Enough, about that.. let’s get on to some images. The bonus about being the last session of the year is that you get more previews than anyone else. :) The mother of my latest model was looking for some B&W portraits of her daughter and we got some that I adore! Here are some of my favs

Had to have some color, and this outfit is GREAT color!

And I just love the mood of this family shot!

I hope you enjoy the preview. I will be blogging throughout the rest of the year so check back in for random thoughts and pics. I look forward to meeting some new babies to start the New Year!

My most loyal family.

This is the 4th year I have done holiday pics for this family. It’s really fun to see how much the kids change from year to year (and the new dogs they get!). Their daughter is a natural model, loved the camera and looks so darn cute in every pic I take I have a hard time narrowing them down! Their son is 9 now and I’m just cramping his style while I’m there. :) (but he still gives me a few smiles and looks too cute himself!) It was great seeing you guys again this year!

You see what I mean, when she looks like this in every picture, then they all end up being “keepers”

He wants to be a child model because they make a lot of money, but he did not want to be in any pictures. Got him anyway. I think he secretly loves it. ;)

We made sure we got “the one” for the Holiday card.

I just loved this quick moment with dad, and I really like what this tea stained look brings to the image.

Engagement Session in Meriden

So, I’ve been on the lookout for some graffiti for the past couple of months. I was on a mission presented by this couple & his love of graffiti. My search ended when I found an underpass in Meriden and thought that might be a good spot. A little dirty, kinda run down, but it made for great pics. I Love railroad tracks! These guys were great sports about it. They got into the session (after a bit of convincing!) and we had fun. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in Sept. 09!

Fall Day

This session ended up (after a little bit of driving!) being in Mystic. That quaint little area of shops right next to the aquarium. It was the perfect backdrop for fall pics. The sun was shinning.. even though it was cool out. We kept warm chasing this little one around though! She was really moving for only 10 mos. old. She is just a doll. You can’t beat fall in New England!
