A blow dryer is the baby whisperer……

Ok, now this sounds crazy I know, but it really worked! At least in the beginning of this newborn session. This adorable couple had a little girl 5 weeks ago and they found out one crying night (we’ve all been there) that the blow dryer was a soothing sound to the baby – and she fell asleep to it! So, when she decided she didn’t want to have her picture taken, they pulled out the blow dryer and let it do it’s magic. Granted, this is not totally a miracle worker, but, it worked in the beginning like I mentioned. Towards the end of the session she had it and the dryer wasn’t working any more. Her modeling contract was up! But I will keep this trick in mind in case I ever need it. Newborns are tough, you never know what’s going to happen. Sometimes they’re awake through it all and sometimes they only sleep. We used some great spots in their house and went outside too since it was a beautiful evening. In the end, there’s some great shots!

Rethinking my Husband as my Assistant….

So…..you know how I know it is football season? Because the only two words my husband can put together in front of another male is Fantasy Football. It never fails. Every where we go he finds someone, somewhere, who knows about football and it’s all over.

So onto Saturday’s session…. It was a Maternity Session at Hubbard Park in Meriden. We met a great couple expecting their first child in Nov. (Does she look amazing or what?) We had a beautiful, overcast day. We had the freedom to roam around the park and use lots of different areas without having to dodge in and out of people. And…to top it off Shaun was able to assist me with lighting.

Next thing I know, I am asking for the husband to step back into the frame and Shaun is talking his ear off. Manning this, Brady that… at least he made a new friend :) (when does hockey season start?) As you can see the shoot went great. These two had wonderful chemistry and were so cute together. Here’s a few favs, but it was hard to pick!

Last Session of a 1st Year Package

I just wrapped up another 1 year session. It’s been great watching all these little ones (and their parents) grow over the course of a year (see image below). And this time was no exception! K has the best smile and livliest personality. I don’t even think there are any pics with her not smiling.

One little side note – Mom had a yellow dress that she wore when she was one (and her sister wore it too) and she had K wear it at the session as well. Yeah, it was a flash back to the 70’s, but, it was really sweet to pass it along and now have even more memories to go with the dress. What a great idea to incorporate in the session.

I had a great time meeting you guys and thank you for allowing me to share in these special milestones!

P.S. By the way…Cheerios are the best bribery! I have never seen anyone get so excited for cherrios! They came in handy behind the scenes. (Having said that….these smiles were not all from the cheerios!!)

Another 6 mo. session

I’m very lucky to have had two 6mo. sessions in a row. It’s so much fun to see how much these babies have changed since the last session – and this little one was no exception! He was “picture perfect”. (Ha, ha, I know, I couldn’t help myself.)
We had a gorgeous day for pics inside and out. It was really great to utilize their whole house for the session. We jumped around from room to room. It was nice to get pics in their surroundings. Although I don’t think it would have mattered where we had the session, this guy would have been all smiles no matter what! He made my job easy! And check out that first tooth!
